Vice President
Jan Leon
"All we do is buy and sell houses," said Jan Leon. "We're real estate investors."
The "We" she's referring to is herself and her husband, Bill. Together they've owned WJL Financial Group in Plantation for the past 18 years, and prior to that they traveled on a circuit across the United States teaching a real estate investing course called Millionaire Masters.
With WJL, Jan's responsibilities are research and analysis on properties as well as coordination of closings. For The Broward Real Estate Investment Association, Jan and her husband
run the entire club, along
with maintaining the membership database and coordinate activities beyond the monthly meetings. She also teaches people what to do when they find a property, how to analyze repairs and how to check out a neighborhood. Her extensive experience of real estate is spectacular.
Prior to starting WJL Financial Group, Jan and Bill
started WJL Products, a company which built and distributed computers and peripheral parts,
but lost the company to a partner who turned out to be unscrupulous.
With the company bankrupt, they rebounded by moving into real estate and working hard.
With a different partner, she and Bill also
ran Keys Residential Properties, a limited liability corporation that for three and a half years had provided housing for recovering drug addicts in Fort Lauderdale. It had 64 beds.
"We had
an apartment building, several duplexes and a couple of single-family homes," she said. "They
were a safe, clean environment for recovering addicts."
Jan studied art at Oakton College outside Chicago and
enjoys playing with her dogs, scuba diving and car racing. For a wedding anniversary she gave Bill 10 laps with Richard Petty.
